The "fleuri" village of Breil has its own chateau with historic landscaped gardens - "parc de Lathan" and a unique underground labyrinth. The village is centred round a Medieval church with white washed houses and tree lined streets. In the village there is a patisserie selling fresh bread and croissants; but get there early, Nelleis pastries are locally renowned! A large festival in the middle of August ends with a spectacular firework display set to music - not be missed.
The town of Noyant is 5km to the north has a selection of small shops, two good restaurants, bars a pizzeria, and an excellent market each Friday. There is also a Intermarche supermarket stocking a full range of food, wine and other goods. The Intermarche has also has a petrol station.
Breil is surrounded by a mix of open fields, orchards, woodland and a nearby lake has a beach, swimming, boat and pedaloes hire, tennis and volleyball courts, and a shaded children's play area. See how the French picnic en masse ... truly an authentic continental tradition.
